GF Apple Muffins + Musings on Motherhood

How did we get here?

I had one of those 'how did we get here?' moments the other day and it could make me cry just thinking about it.

Before we get to that story...

Have you checked out my new e-book, Nutrition for Postpartum Playbook?

Honestly, if you are pregnant, about to have a baby or in the thick of postpartum, what are you waiting for?!

This book is easy to read, packed full of postpartum wisdom and has some delicious, nutrient-dense recipes that I know you will love.

Plus, it's only $15 (AU)!! If you don't grab it for yourself, grab it as a baby shower gift for a friend. I know it will be worth the investment.

Now onto the story

My seven year old daughter is my mini-me in many ways. She loves to read, she loves to sing and she is fascinated by the movies I grew up watching.

I have been itching to introduce her to the mystical world of Narnia, one of my favourite set of movies growing up (I think I only read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and not any of the other C.S Lewis novels, so they are still on my reading list).

I was just waiting for the right age to introduce it to her and lo and behold, we had a couple of hours without any of the other kids around the other day, to watch it together.

It is always so magical getting to relive your childhood through your child's eyes.

While we watched the movie, she couldn't wait for what happened next and asked questions every two minutes. It was so sweet!

After we watched it together, I asked her how she found it. She responded by saying 'I liked it, but I didn't like it.' I think she found some parts scary, even though I skipped a lot of those scenes.

It's wild to look back over the last seven years of my motherhood journey from when I nursed her to sleep at just one week old, to now, introducing her to the world of Narnia at age seven.

Time is such a funny thing. The days feel long sometimes, but the years are but a blip in time.

So, for the mamas in the thick of raising your first or second baby, one day you'll be watching your favourite childhood movie with them, and think to yourself, 'how did we get here?'

My favourite gluten free, egg free apple muffins to date :)

You can grab the recipe here.

Have a fantastic week, beautiful one.

All my love,

Jess

As a Holistic Nutrition Consultant, here's my number one child nutrition tip for parents. It's this... Keep your child's blood sugars stable throughout the day. It seems simple, but how often do we simply feed our kids cereal for breakfast or give them fruit as a snack or fuel them up on lots of packaged foods throughout the day? None of which is inherently bad. And sometimes as parents, time is of the essence, so convenience foods are very helpful. But for the most part, many kids: Start the...

Burn out is optional: It doesn't have to be your story like it was mine... Hey mamas, Burn out is real. I experienced burn out last year, 7 months after having my fourth baby. And now, I want to share with other mamas what steps to implement to avoid burn out for themselves. You don't have to live just to survive each day. But it takes intention and it takes vision. What kind of home are you cultivating? What kind of example are you setting for your children? Read my 3 Mistakes Mothers Make...

Will it be a tidy home or a love-filled home? Mama friends, I have been feeling a lot of mum guilt this week. I don't like the words 'mum guilt', because it is a term coined by our society based on societal pressures of mothers these days. But, I'm using it today because it fits this conversation. I have been unwell over the past few weeks and while I feel like I am doing the best that I can in being mum and homeschooler and homemaker, I've felt like it's not enough. My kids have asked to...
